Compacted Concrete - I was on a double decker bus at the time of this photo, taken in KL this captures the magic of side street alley ways.
Black and Blue - This photo is taken in Little Indian in KL, a beautiful little area that will make all of your senses feel alive.
Twins Gardens - One of the many angles of the Patrona's Towers from the KLCC gardens.
Mala Market - Another one from Little India, these streets are lined with locals making Malas. 'Mala' is the generic name for these beautiful flower necklaces.
Petaling Penjual Bunga - A photo which captures a moment of peacefulness in the craziness of Petaling Street. Penjual Bunga is the Malay term for Florist.
Skewer Station - Found on many of the streets of KL a cheap and delicious dinner.
Smogged Skyline - A breath taking view from the KL Tower, time almost stands still from up there, whilst the city below continues to move in its chaotic pace.
“1 in 50,000” - This photo was captured at one of Borneo’s Orang-utan conservation centres, we were lucky enough to see 3 Orang-utans on the day we went, a true blessing as the Orang-utan’s are expected to be extinct within the next 5-10 years with only 50,000 left in the forests of Borneo.
“Rising Above” - One towering tree stands out as if it does not belong in the ocean of green that surrounds it. This was taken by the river in one of the local villages. This place is vibrantly splashed with green and yellows, so much so that this photo does not do the colours justice.
“Rainforest Rock” - After a long day walking around the local village, we crossed a bamboo bridge to reach this majestic river which reflected the gold and green of the rainforest above. We spent about an hour here, swimming and cooling off.
“Arthur's Passion" - Meet Arthur, we were lucky enough to be invited into his house so he could show us his true love, an instrument which he calls the ‘Pratuokng’, during our stay here, he played us many songs, one of which dates back hundreds of years, a song he calls ’The Happy Song’ which was played for warriors when they arrived home victorious with human heads as their proof. Arthur is one of the very few people who still practice this art, he not only makes the instruments, he is also in the panel for Cultural Music Preservation, which allows him to share his knowledge with others. On top of this, Arthur and his band ‘Madeeh’ are going to the UK this month to play in the World Music Festival.
“Iban Trophies” - During our visit to a traditional longhouse in Borneo we were taken to the skulls of the Iban people. The tribe in this village were not originally head hunters like most in their area, it was not until the Iban’s started raiding their villages and head hunting their people that they decided they needed to do the same in order to protect themselves. These skulls date back 400-500 years ago.
“Path of Illumination” - This path led us from the local village in Borneo to the river which they use to swim and fish in. The path is overgrown with greenery and is a place where the music of nature sings at its loudest.
"Fairy Caves" - A 2 hour motor bike trip led us to Fairy Caves, once you climb up the hundreds of steps the view is honestly breathtaking, something a picture cannot capture.
"Life Among The Leaves" - On one of the many winding roads in the Cameron Highlands sits a lone house almost buried in the picture perfect hills covered in tea plantations
"Brewing Bolder" - Riding up to one of the BOH Tea Plantations, the side of the roads are full of colour.
"Tea Stream" - This beautiful stream is silent and not visible from the main road which makes its discovery even more beautiful.
"Vibrant Escape" - A tea house perched on rolling hills is a perfect place to escape and sip your strawberry tea whilst the workers pluck away at the tea trees in front.
"Foggy Leaves" - This tea plantation covers over 200 hectares and still does not produce enough tea to supply Malaysia. Foreign workers here are paid 20MYR Sen (about 6 Australian Cents) per kilo to harvest the tea.
"Twisting Trunks" - A trek in the mossy forest lead by our guide 'Monee' saw us climbing over mossy trunks and slipping down leafy descents.
"Mossy Spread" - We were lead into this secret track in the Mossy Forrest by 'Monee', a track which he discovered back in the 90's and has still maintained its beauty since.
"Fresh Produce" - A grocer sits in the middle of her produce in Central Market, weighing and bagging her sales.
"Smoked Skewers" - One of the biggest night markets we have been to was located in Kota Bahru, the muslim hub of Malaysia. This market started at 4pm and was held for fasting month.
"Above and Below" - Taken on Romantic Beach in Perhentian Kecil, the water is so clear that even though it is smashing against the rocks you can still see the bottom.
"Central Lines" - Taken on the second floor of Central Market in Kota Bahru, from above you can watch as the hustle and bustle carries on below.
"Sunset Strike" - As a brutal storm set in the sun started to set on one side, leading the whole sky to light up in pink.
"Secluded Sand" - One of the many beautiful beaches in Langkawi, this one was hidden by a bush track which made it perfect for uninterrupted swimming.
"Sky Cable Line" - Doesn't need much of a caption, this view is from the top of the cable car in Langkawi.
"Bi-Cycle" - One of the most popular street art pieces in Georgetown with a little bit of a twist.
"Drifting Lines" - The longest bridge in SE Asia curves off into the smog of the city.
"Rush Road" - A family of 3 packed onto their bike rides past the night market at Chulia Street.
"One Night" - Georgetown's artistic vibe presents loads of simple photographic opportunities.
